Privacy Policy

Effective: June 5, 2026 · Last updated: June 5, 2026

Trace & Find is a learning app for young children (ages 3–6). It is built to be completely private: it collects no data, requires no account, and works fully offline. This policy explains exactly what that means.

What we collect

Nothing.

Trace & Find is a single-device app for one family. We don't run servers and we have no way to collect, store, transmit, or analyze your or your child's data.

Specifically

  • No account, no sign-in, no email, no authentication of any kind
  • No analytics, telemetry, or event tracking
  • No advertising or ad SDKs
  • No third-party SDKs of any kind (no Firebase, no Facebook, nothing)
  • No location, camera, microphone, contacts, or HealthKit access
  • No links out to the web from the child-facing part of the app
  • Internet is not required to use the app

Data stored on your device

Trace & Find saves your child's progress — which letters, numbers, and sounds they've collected, their name and age from the one-time setup, the chosen settings (which worlds are enabled, which letter case to trace, level, sound/voice toggles), and a simple activity count — directly on your iPhone or iPad using iOS's standard local storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves the device. Deleting the app deletes it.

No iCloud, no cloud, no backend

Trace & Find does not use iCloud sync, and we operate no servers, backend, or admin dashboard. There is no copy of your child's data anywhere except on your own device.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Trace & Find is designed for children and rated 4+. Because we collect no personal information whatsoever, the app is inherently compliant with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar children's-privacy laws worldwide. The name and age entered during setup are stored only on the device and are never transmitted to us or anyone else. Purchases and settings live behind a parental gate (a simple math problem) so they aren't reachable by a young child.

International privacy laws

Because Trace & Find collects no personal data, it is inherently compliant with GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), PIPL (China), LGPD (Brazil), and similar laws. There is no data to access, delete, port, or opt out of.

Apple's role

Trace & Find is free to use for the first 14 days; after that an optional auto-renewing subscription (processed entirely by Apple) keeps content unlocked. Apple handles the payment — we never see your card or payment details, and the app still collects no personal data. If you've opted into Apple's analytics sharing via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share with App Developers, Apple may share aggregate, anonymized crash and usage data with us. This data is provided by Apple, not collected by our app. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

Subscription & the 14-day free period

The app is fully usable for 14 days with no payment and nothing asked upfront. After that, a Family subscription ($99.99/year or $12.99/month, prices may vary by region) keeps everything unlocked. It's an auto-renewing subscription managed by Apple — it renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can cancel anytime in your device Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Even with a subscription, the app collects no personal data; Apple processes the payment and we never see your payment details.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date and post the new version at this URL. If we ever add anything that collects data (we don't intend to), we'll require explicit consent first.
