Common questions
What is Trace & Find?+
A learning app for ages 3–6. Your child picks a world they love (animals, vehicles, dinosaurs, space and more), then learns inside it: trace letters A→Z, count numbers 1→20, and play letter-sound games. Every creature comes alive when they finger-paint it.
How much does it cost?+
Everything is free for the first 14 days — no payment, no card asked upfront. After that, a Family subscription keeps it unlocked: $99.99/year or $12.99/month (prices may vary by region). It’s an auto-renewing subscription managed by Apple; cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. No ads, no tracking, no data collection, ever.
How do I subscribe, restore, or cancel?+
Subscribe and Restore Purchases both live in the “Grown-ups” area behind the math gate (so a child can’t buy anything). To cancel, go to iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Trace & Find. Cancelling keeps access until the period you paid for ends.
How does my child play?+
On the home screen tap a game (Letters, Numbers, or Sounds), pick a world, then choose a letter or number. Trace it with a finger — wobbles are fine, there’s no failure — and the creature reacts. Tap the speaker to hear the sound again as many times as they like.
How do I change settings or see progress?+
Tap “Grown-ups” and solve the quick math problem (this keeps little fingers out). Inside you can choose which worlds appear, set whether your child traces BIG or little letters, pick a level, and see a simple weekly activity dashboard.
The sounds aren’t real animal sounds yet.+
Right now some sounds are generated on-device as friendly stand-ins. Real recorded sounds are coming in an update. Nothing about this affects privacy — all audio is produced or played on the device.
My child’s progress disappeared after reinstalling.+
Progress is stored locally on the device only (we don’t use iCloud or any server, for privacy). Deleting the app deletes that local progress, and reinstalling starts fresh. This is the trade-off for collecting zero data.
Does it work on iPad?+
Yes — Trace & Find is universal and adapts to both iPhone and iPad, including a landscape layout on iPad.
I want to suggest a feature or report a problem.+
Please email me. I’m a solo developer building this for my own kid; I read every message and top requests get built.
